PCH 82 Pre-production in Long Beach

It was 2003 and we were putting together Andiamo.  The record label agreed to fly me and Jason out to Long Beach to do some pre-production with Miguel.  We were out there for one week and had a gig at the Whisky the following week.  The whole time we were there, there were raging California wildfires.  The sky was orange and smokey during the day, there was ash all over buildings and cars and at night the fog was so thick you couldn’t see but a couple of feet in front of you.

From that environment “PCH 82” was born.  When Jason and I weren’t partying and writing with Miguel, we’d clear our head by driving on the One, hence the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).  The foggy, chilled feel of the song came through in it’s 82 BPM (Beats Per Minute).

When Jim, Jason and Austin made it out for the gig, we partied the day after in Long Beach.  We BBQed up some t-bones, drank booze and chilled while Jim spun some records.  Other cats were doing other things.  I kind of remeber this.  haha

Cheers!
